Integration & True Colors – Yoga Teachers’ Practice Celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride month - ALL queer folks & allies are welcome!
Join us for this Active Level 2/3 Vinyasa class specifically for yoga teachers. Props: 2 blocks, a blanket, cushion, & anything else you need. After 75 minutes of on-the-mat practice, we’ll stay on Zoom for about 15 or 20 minutes to have a conversation amongst ourselves as fellow teachers. Meet new siblings on the path, connect with each other, and be in a community of folks who are in the practice.
More from Janie Ganga…
Like so many queer folks who grew up in the 1970s, 80s, and even the 90s, I learned early on how to hide parts of myself to feel safe. And then when I started to come out to myself in the late 90s, I began the journey of becoming a little bit more visible, a little bit at a time... very slowly! When I started a yoga practice in the early 2000s, I was more clear for myself about my gender identity & sexuality, but I still kept many parts hidden except for special occasions (like Pride Parades!!!). As soon as I stepped into the practice of I AM Yoga, I learned that yoga was all about INTEGRATION – and realized that this meant bringing all the parts of your life together. I immediately felt Wow! – fascination & relief at finding this philosophy of Universal inclusion. I felt the Joy! – I could be my full self!!! And simultaneously - Oy! I was so scared to reveal all the parts of myself because I was so used to separating the parts of myself.
Throughout the 2010s, I started to deepen my yoga practice, I completed my first Training and started teaching, and also began to integrate all the parts of my life together. I started living my own True Colors out loud everywhere I went… And still, there’s more integration happening – it’s all a practice! This class is part of it, too. I’m so excited to offer a Teacher’s Practice through Stillness + Movement. The yoga teacher community here helps me continue to learn and grow in so many ways!!!
